Begin The Smut Marathon!!

Good evening, readers! Last month, I learned of a competition for erotica writers. One that would take place over the course of an entire year, and I couldn’t help but sign my name up for it! Which is why you’ll be seeing my the new badge in the sidebar of this site. But now that sign-ups are over, and the details have been sent, allow me to share some of the details.

Over the rest of this year, I’ll be receiving challenge assignments to write an erotic story across a variety of genres and sub-genres. Some of them could be horror-themed, comedy-themed, about BDSM or something vanilla. But all of them must be erotic in nature. In addition, each assignment has it’s own word limit, starting as low as 30-100 words, and progressively getting longer(up to 2,500 words).

Scoring

Each entry will be scored on a ranking system that will be decided on by a group of judges, as well as the public. Which means all of you will get to play a large role in this competition as well! However, there is a catch.

Every story entry is entirely anonymous to everyone during the voting round. Both the judges, and the public, will not know who wrote which stories, and the writers are not allowed to reveal which one they wrote. So you’ll have no idea which one is mine until after the voting round is over, at which point, I’ll post a copy of my entry here on Forbidden Writings.

How you can stay involved

As I’ve said, the public(meaning you) will be able to vote on stories to affect the outcome of this competition. In fact, the public vote makes for 50% of the final score, so your input is critical. Furthermore, you’ll also be able to make comments on each story to let the writer know what you thought, and provide insight on how to make their writing better. Part of the reason for this competition is to help the writers improve, so your constructive criticism will be needed. But, like the other details of each story, your comments won’t be visible until after the voting period is over, so don’t be alarmed if your comment doesn’t appear after entering it.

To get up-to-date news on my progress, I highly recommend you follow me on Twitter, as well as subscribing to Forbidden Writings. You would also do well to subscribe to the Smut Marathon website.

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t exactly aware of how grand this contest was supposed to be until after I signed up. But now that I know, I’m nervous! I don’t even know how many people have signed up. I know the judges are connoisseurs of fine erotica, and even the Directors of Eroticon. So I’m going to need to step up my game! Wish me luck, my friends!

You write a lot better than other people i know. Although i am slightly bias. You know where to find me if you start freaking out. Just make sure you put any entries through a couple proof readers and any readers will be grateful. Poor grammar and spelling will kill any mood. Breathe easy you’ll do great.

I appreciate it. Although, proof readers are a no-no in this competition. Because the entries are judged anonymously, no on can know what I wrote. There can’t be any possible leaks of what story is mine. Believe me, the rules I was sent are pretty iron-clad.

Not even an online proof reader? They aren’t as good as getting someone to check though it but they will pick you up on the easy mistakes to miss

Oh, yeah, I can use those. Ha, I thought you meant find a person to proof-read my work. My mistake.

No worries. Not asking you to forfeit your integrity. Hardly think you are allowed to make amendments to any rules in place while competing. Lol.
